Songbird Collective was founded as a collaborative effort by four women with a shared vision for community, creativity, and support for women in music. What started as a conversation between Laura Brino, Meg Murray, Danah Denice and Jeanette Lynn in 2022 has grown into a movement celebrating women and non-binary artists in the music community. Together, the four musicians worked to bring this vision to life, launching the first Songbird Festival in 2023 as a way to celebrate artists and create a safe, inclusive space for sharing voices. The Songbird Collective was born out of this vision following the first festival.
